ProRend Colour

PROREND Colour is a premium factory batched proprietary silicone monocouche render. This attractive mica containing through-colour render provides an ideal mineral finish for masonry type substrates. It has an attractive 2mm fine-scraped finish.

Application

Render Application

The substrate must initially be prepared in accordance with the technical specification for the project. This may include the use of an SAS basecoat or primer as directed.

Apply ProRend Colour to a thickness of 17mm in 2 passes. Apply the first coat at 7mm thick with a hawk and trowel embedding ProMesh Grade 5 around stress areas. Immediately repeat the application with a second coat at 10mm thick
so that the application is "wet on wet".

Render Application

Use an aluminium straight edge to rule off the wall after the second coat and spatula flat.

When the ProRend Colour is sufficiently dry it will be ready to scrape. To test the readiness to scrape mark the render with your thumb. If is ready to scrape when you can no longer mark the render with your thumb but are able to mark it with your nail: the ProRend Colour is ready but green. The time of scrape will be dependent upon
weather conditions and typically
varies from 4 - 16 hours.

Scraping Render

Using the nail float, sometimes called a scraper, the top 2mm of render is scraped off the wall by moving the float in circular motions to achieve a finish depth of 15mm. The wall is then brushed down gently to remove dust.

Detailing 1

ProRend Colour can be used to form many details. The same principle of cutting into the render at the point of scraping can be used to create quoin stones, key stones, feature bands and ashlar grooves.

To create a feature band battens should be fixed in place prior to any render application and a thin basecoat should be applied between the battens and left with a key. It is important that this basecoat
is thinner than the finished thickness of the
surrounding render so it will not be visible
when the finish is scraped.

Detailing 2

Apply the ProRend Colour between the battens and build up to the desired thickness. All areas must exceed the required finished thickness by a minimum of 2mm as the render needs to be scraped to achieve the final finish.

Once the finish is ready to scrape use a preformed cutting tool across the length of the entire band wearing it down to the correct form. Once fully cured the battens may be removed
and the remaining render finished to
the edge of the band.

Description/ Useage-

ProRend Colour is a cement based, self-coloured, ready mixed render (add water), normally applied in one coat. Designed to incorporate the benefits of silicone water repellents into a cementatious render system. The silicone also prevents the migration of soluble salts though the cured render. ProRend Colour can be applied from 15-25 mm and can be cut to achieve Ashlar detailing. Easy to apply and highly suitable for application by machine.

Application-  
Site Work- Scaffolding must be tied independently to allow uninterrupted application. Any faults in the structure must be rectified.
Site Conditions- Temperature range - below 5oC or above 30oC. Do not apply to frozen or thawing supports.
Substrates- ProRend Colour can be applied as a one coat render on medium density blockwork with normal suction, otherwise apply onto backing of ProRend Float. For application to concrete apply to a backing of ProRend Prep.
Preparation- All surfaces must be dry, sound, clean, reasonably smooth and free from loose material, oil and grease. Protect fresh render work against weather influences.
Render Application-

Mix whole bags at a time, mix with 5-6 litres of water, allow to stand for 5 minutes then mix again. Apply using a stainless steel trowel or rendering machine. Rule level with an aluminium straight edge and spatula flat.
Coverage- ~ 1.8 kg/m2
Curing/ Drying- Drying time between 4-16 hours depending on conditions. Curing with clean water may be necessary during rapid drying conditions.
Protection- Cover parts which do not have to be treated with paper and tape. Remove directly after applying the primer.
Cleaning-

All equipment must be cleaned immediately after use with water. Waste material should not be emptied into any drainage system.

Description

PROREND COLOUR is a cement based, self-coloured, ready mixed render (add water).

Composition

High quality, factory composed dry mortar according to DIN 18557 and DIN 18550. Sand according to DIN 4226. Binding agent according to DIN 1060 and 1164 and approved additives for better workability and obtaining the desired qualities.

Cleaning

PROREND COLOUR may be cleaned periodically by the use of a pressure washer (40 bar) incorporating a mild detergent or road traffic film remover in the water. The spray pattern should be adjusted to form a fan rather than a jet and care must be taken at exposed edges. The interval between treatments is purely dependant upon the amount of ground floor pedestrian 'traffic' and local atmospheric conditions.

Organic growth should be brushed off the surface and subsequently treated with a good quality algaecide sterilising solution (attain advice from our technical department).

Damage

PROREND COLOUR is a through-coloured material and as such
small knocks and abrasions will not be as noticeable as with traditional painted renders.

Repairs

PROREND COLOUR is a finished material and repairs are always likely to be visible. For this reason we would recommend that full panels are removed and replaced or over coated when applicable.

In the event that the entire panel cannot be replaced or over coated the damaged area should be cleaned and made free from dust. Deep primer should be applied if material has been on the wall for a long period of time, a layer of PROREND COLOUR should be applied over the damaged area brought 2mm above the surface and left to cure. At the right stage of readiness it should be scraped back to the surface, with care taken not to scratch the existing material.

Due to the nature of the material it is unlikely that this will blend in perfectly, if this is not an acceptable match we would recommend an overcoat of Silicone paint to match the colour.

Cracking

The Code of Practice for External renderings BS5262 advises in clause 50.1 ‘Inconspicuous cracks that remain dry and sound are usually best left alone. Repairing, however carefully done, invariably results in some differences in appearance over the area of the repair'. If repairs must be carried out, entire elevations are preferable.
