Description:

PROREND COLOURTEX 'Grained' is a ready mixed silicone based finish, manufactured from fine natural and coloured aggregates. PROREND COLOURTEX 'Grained' is a random grained textured finish that has excellent weather, scratch and knock resistant qualities. Maintenance is therefore minimal. PROREND COLOURTEX 'Grained' contains carefully selected and blended raw materials giving a consistently durable and high quality product.

Composition:

Fine natural and special coloured aggregates in a silicone binder giving excellent adhesion and weatherproofing.

PROREND COLOURTEX 'Grained' contains effective biocides to help preserve its attractive appearance.

Characteristics:

PROREND COLOURTEX 'Grained' can be finished in either vertical, horizontal, or circular random grained textures to a 3mm thickness.

PROREND COLOURTEX 'Grained' resists the penetration of rain water. PROREND COLOURTEX 'Grained' has excellent weather resistance and durability, whilst allowing the structure to breathe.

Sitework:

Scaffolding must be independently tied to allow uninterrupted  application. Any faults in the structure, particularly, those which may lead to moisture penetration, must be rectified.

Site Conditions:

Do not apply in rain or when the substrate and/or the air temperature is below 5oC or above 30oC or, if exposure to these conditions is likely during setting and drying. When used internally, ventilation is required during the first few hours of drying.

Substrate:

PROREND COLOURTEX 'Grained' may be applied to primed, new or old substrates. Externally, PROREND COLOURTEX 'Grained' may be applied to suitably smooth and flat surfaces of cement based rendering, fair faced concrete, however PROREND 'FLOAT' is the recommended substrate.

Additional surfaces (for internal application only), are suitably smooth and flat plasters, gypsum finishing plasters, dry lining, plywood and suitable insulating boards.

This list is not exhaustive and other surfaces such as brickwork/blockwork may be coated after they have been provided with necessary preperation work, please consult our Technical Team for advice.

Preparation:

All surfaces should be dry, sound, clean, reasonably smooth and free from loose material, oil and grease.

Organic growths must be removed and treated using a good quality algicide (attain advice from our technical department) and follow the detailed instructions for its use.

Use masking tape to obtain well defined edges. Remove tape directly after finishing.

Priming:

Externally, all surfaces should receive a coat of PROREND Coloured Primer and allowed to dry fully.

Internally, surfaces should be primed with PROREND Coloured Primer unless the surfaces are chalky or friable where necessary cleaning and making good should be carried out prior to the application of PROREND Coloured Primer. All applications of coloured primer should be in the colour closest to the decorative finish.

Exceptionally poor surfaces may need special treatment. Our Technical Support Team will be pleased to advise.

Application:

It is essential that PROREND COLOURTEX 'Grained' is mixed before use. Add a maximum of 2% water to the material and mix thoroughly. An electric hand mixer (such as a drill and whisk) should be used to achieve good workability.

PRODUCT OF DIFFERENT BATCH NUMBERS SHOULD NOT BE USED ON THE SAME ELEVATION. ALL BUCKETS SHOULD BE INTERMIXED.

PROREND COLOURTEX 'Grained' should be applied by an applicator with experience with this type of product.

PROREND COLOURTEX 'Grained' should be applied to the backing by traditional methods. A tight coat to the thickness of the largest aggregate within the material is applied using a stainless steel hawk and trowel. A flowing edge should be maintained. Do not interupt application until a complete section is finished. After approximately 10-30 minutes, depending on the drying conditions, the material is finished by rubbing with a smooth plastic float in either horizontal, vertical, or circular strokes depending on the pattern required. Externally, under rapid drying conditions, finishing may be required sooner. Any splashes should be removed with clean water immediately as work progresses.

PROREND COLOURTEX 'Grained' can also be sprayed using suitable machinery (contact our Technical Team for further details).

Curing / Drying:

PROREND COLOURTEX 'Grained' will normally be surface dry within several hours and through dry within 48-72 hours depending on the substrate and drying conditions. Suitable protection should be provided from unfavourable weather conditions until PROREND COLOURTEX 'Grained' is through dry. Around doorways and openings all surfaces must be fully covered. PROREND COLOURTEX could stain unprotected surfaces.

Protection:

Cover parts which do not have to be treated with PROREND COLOURTEX GRAINED with paper and tape. Remove them directly after applying the finish.

Cleaning:

All equipment must be cleaned immediately after use with waste. Waste material should not be emptied into any drainage system.

Coverage:

Coverage will depend upon the surface being coated. As a general guide, when applied 3mm thick, coverage is ~ 4.5-5m² per bucket.

Packaging:

PROREND COLOURTEX 'Grained' is supplied in 17kg tubs.

Storage:

PROREND COLOURTEX 'Grained' should be stored in cool, dry conditions at a temperature greater than 5oc. protect from sunlight and sources of direct heat. The container should be kept closed when not in use. Do not stack more than four containers high.

Mixing:

The actual colour of the product should be verified against that which has been specified. Natural variations which occur in raw materials can lead to differences. Where more than one tub of PROREND COLOURTEX 'Grained' is needed to complete a section, or where adjoining sections are to be finished in PROREND COLOURTEX 'Grained', the contents of all tubs needed should be mixed together. This will avoid the possibility of different shades occurring in the surface finish.

4.1	Inhalation		Move person to fresh clean air and keep warm. Avoid exertion. If the patient has irregular breathing or is not breathing give artificial respiration. Do not provide food or drink. If patient is unconscious place in recovery position and seek medical assistance immediately.
