Strikotherm can be applied to a wide variety of building substrates. Steel and timber frames require a building board to load the EWI system onto. Alternatively, EWI can be installed directly onto masonry based substrates. For renovation projects the key to success is ensuring that the substrate is clean and solid.
Strikotherm Basecoats provide an adhesive layer to fix the insulation to the building substrate and can also be used to level an uneven surface.
They also provide an intermediate reinforced layer between the insulation and the finish coat. Within the intermediate layer Strikotherm Reinforcing Mesh is embedded to ensure this layer is as strong and flexible as the finish coat.
Strikotherm Insulation is available in an array of different types, thicknesses and grades achieving a variety of U values. To achieve an improved U value, a thicker or higher grade insulation material may be chosen. The different varieties also possess
properties such as acoustic performance, fire resistance and the ability to be used on curved surfaces.
Strikotherm Deep Primer and Colour Primer are applied to the intermediate layer to prepare the surface for the finish. The Deep Primer helps reduce suction and also stabilizes the background ready for the application of the next primer. The Colour Primer is particularly important in ensuring a constant colour and that the finish remains unchanged for many years to come.
